Vibrant fish are the pulse of a healthy reef.
The iconic reef fish of Komodo, Indonesia are creatures shaped by strong currents and fragile habitats.
Inspired by the success of the Earth Month ‘give-away’ from my 100 Days of Coral Reefs project, I decided to do another conservation outreach to celebrate Coral Reef Awareness Week. I painted 20 small watercolors of Indo-Pacific reef fish, concentrating on the ones that I personally find the most rewarding to see. When I return to Indonesia next month, I will give these paintings to random strangers, along with information about simple, concrete actions that anyone can take to support ocean conservation, particularly coral reef protection.
Each painting is a gift, given to raise awareness and say thank you to those working to protect our oceans.
